How to upload your photos
How to upload photos:
- Register for an account. Be sure to tick the "Media Contributor" checkbox; if you've already registered then login.
- When your account is approved for uploads, which can take up to 24 hours, but we usually respond much sooner, you will receive an e-mail; click on the link in that e-mail and you will be taken back to the site.
- Once you are logged in, click on "My Photos" in the left sidebar. This will take you to your root photo album. Click "edit this album" to change the name or description of this
album. - To add photos click "Add an image" on the left sidebar.
- Give your image a Title. Then click "Browse" to find the image on your computer.
- Select an Album in which your image will reside. This can be your root album or, if you've created sub-albums, you can select one of them.
- You can add some text to "Body" to describe your image.
- When you're all set, click "Submit".
Congratulations, you've just created your first album and added your first photo! You can repeat this process. Try creating albums inside of albums to help organize your photos. Or you can try mass importing if you have several photos to add at one time.
Bulk Importing
- Begin by navigating into the album you wish to upload to
- You'll see its name at the top with a "Mass import" button to the far right. Click it.
- You shouldn't need to change "Parent", but you can if you decide your photos need to live somewhere else.
- You can use the "File to upload" boxes to add 5 individual photos, but chances are you have a lot more than that. So, instead you can use the first one to import a zip file of your photos.
- To create a zip file, download and install EasyZip or WinZip.
- After installing one of these zip utilities, find the folder of pictures on your computer that you want to upload. Right click on the folder and click "Properties". Make sure "Size" is less than 50MB (that's the most you can upload at one time). Click "Cancel" to close the Properties, then right click again on the folder where your images are. This time, click "Compress to Zip..." This will open up EasyZip. Click "Open" to create your zip file. This could take up to 30 seconds, so please be patient.
- When it's done, you should see your zip file in the same location as your original folder of photos.
- Now, go back to SpryPixel's "Mass import" screen, click "Browse" and locate the zip file you just created (it should have a zip icon and/or a file name ending in .zip. Click "Open".
- Finally, click "Upload" and your photos will start their journey to the server. Now's a good time to go grab a coffee or change the laundry -- uploading will take several minutes.
Creating Additional Albums
- You can add sub-albums inside of your root album to organize your photos. Click "My Photos".
- Under "Manage Photos" click "Add an album".
- Give your sub-album a title and select it's parent album.
- You can ignore the rest of the settings, but don't forget to click "Submit"
